On Saturday, May 3, 2025, the College Possible Minnesota team gathered together on St. Catherine University campus to celebrate high school juniors and graduating high school seniors participating in our program. Our Launch! event is an important opportunity for College Possible Minnesota students, coaches, and staff to come together as a community and celebrate their accomplishments from the academic year. The mission of College Possible is not only to get students into college, but also through college to earn a degree.
This year, more than 255 College Possible Minnesota students from 29 high schools across the Twin Cities metro area attended Launch! to celebrate their successes. Students rated the event 4.3/5 and said it was “very valuable.” When asked to describe Launch! in one word, they described the event as “fun, inspirational, exciting, amazing,” and “uplifting.”
The morning program brought everyone together to celebrate the past year, elevate student voices through student speakers, and included fun prizes. Students then joined breakout rooms based on their plans for the fall. Juniors came together to learn more about the college application process and what to expect from their coaches in the coming year. Seniors heard from our college program staff, met peers attending the same or similar institutions, and asked current college students their burning questions.
Kennedy High School graduate Gabriela’s favorite part of Launch! was hearing from other students, “I liked seeing everyone’s opinions and comments.” Como Park High School graduate Kong also enjoyed hearing about college student experiences with College Possible, saying that it helped her feel more secure about the process and her future. “I really appreciated finding a community,” said John F. Kennedy High School graduate Mariyah. “I learned so much and got to network a bit with my fellow College Possible classmates!”
For the past decade, Launch! has served as a community gathering. Students are invited to socialize and celebrate with others in the program, in hopes that they’ll leave the event knowing how College Possible will continue to support them through the summer and the next school year.
