College Possible Minnesota’s Senior Program Coordinator, Mai Ka Vang, is the newest recipient of the Minnesota Association for College Admission Counseling’s (MACAC) Student Service Award. This award is given once each year to a MACAC member who has been instrumental in expanding access to post-secondary education opportunities. Last year’s honoree of this award was College Possible Minnesota Executive Director BG Tucker.
Mai is a great leader on our team,” says Senior Program Manager James Corbett. “She has led efforts on our team to overhaul our curriculum to make it more student-centered and has significantly contributed to enhancements for coach trainings. She consistently uses her voice to center the experience for the students we serve and leads by example in showing others how to ‘meet students where they’re at.’”
Ka Vang holds a M.A. in teaching candidate from Saint Mary’s University, a B.A. in social welfare and a certificate in education and educational services from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She believes every student can achieve their academic and personal goals with the right support in place, and is passionate about analyzing and developing organization structures to ensure they are accessible to students and families.
