Each year, College Possible Wisconsin’s LAUNCH! event marks an important milestone: celebrating graduating high school seniors as they prepare to take the next step in their educational journeys.
This spring, students from across Wisconsin gathered to recognize their achievements, connect with fellow scholars, and learn what to expect as they transition from high school to college. This year’s main event was held at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, where students came together for an afternoon of celebration, connection, and preparation for the transition ahead. We are especially grateful to the Roberto Hernandez Center for their partnership and support in helping make the event possible.
This year also marked the first time in several years that College Possible Wisconsin brought Milwaukee-area students together in one location. Students were bussed from their high schools to attend the event, creating a unique opportunity to celebrate as a larger community and connect with fellow scholars from across the city.
In addition to the Milwaukee gathering, students participated in satellite celebrations at our partner sites in Racine and Stevens Point, ensuring scholars across the state had the opportunity to be recognized for their hard work and accomplishments.
For many students, reaching this moment represents years of dedication, perseverance, and growth. As first-generation college students and students from low-income backgrounds, they have navigated college applications, financial aid forms, scholarship searches, and enrollment decisions while balancing school, work, family responsibilities, and countless other challenges.
LAUNCH! serves as both a celebration and a bridge to the next chapter. Students had the opportunity to connect with College Possible staff, meet peers attending similar colleges, and learn more about the ongoing support available on their new campuses and through our College Success program, which provides advising and coaching throughout their college careers.
One of the highlights of the event was the awarding of the $1,000 Power of Possible scholarship, helping a student take the next step toward achieving their educational goals and easing the financial burden that often accompanies the transition to college.
LAUNCH! is a reminder to students that they are not navigating this journey alone. As they prepare to begin college this fall, they do so as part of a community that believes in their potential and is committed to supporting their success.
