Last month, we joined our partners at The Simple Foundation (TSF) and the Omaha Housing Authority for their annual Back-to-School Bash. More than 2,000 community members attended, lining up hours before the doors opened to prepare for the new school year with supplies, resources, and family activities.
For College Possible Omaha, the event was an important opportunity to share who we are and how we work alongside TSF to support students on the path to higher education. With more than 30 community partners present, we connected with families of all ages and backgrounds—introducing them to our program and showing what’s possible when we work together.
A Partnership That Supports Students
Our partnership with The Simple Foundation began in 2023 and is now entering its third year. TSF has been a consistent funder of our work and intentionally built College Possible Omaha into their crime prevention grant so that students in their network have access to our programming.
Aminatu Issaka, senior director of programs at College Possible Omaha, also serves on TSF’s board. In this role, she is able to strengthen collaboration between the two organizations, share insights about student needs, and ensure that together we are creating the best possible opportunities for young people in our community.
The communities that TSF serves reflect the students we support—families from many different cultures, languages, and experiences. By partnering with TSF, we’re able to reach students earlier, meet them where they are, and build trust. Together, we can provide resources for today and guidance for the future, helping students see college as an option and supporting them as they take the steps to get there.
Looking Ahead
Events like the Back-to-School Bash highlight why our partnership with TSF matters. By working side by side, we’re building a bridge between community support and higher education access. Each connection we make at events like this brings us closer to ensuring every student has the opportunity to earn a college degree.
We are proud of our partnership with The Simple Foundation and look forward to continuing this work together to expand opportunities for Omaha students.
