One, in particular, changed her perspective forever.
Juventino Meza arrived in the United States from Mexico as an undocumented student, facing one obstacle after another on his path to higher education. The college process—already complicated—can feel nearly impossible without legal status, financial resources, or guidance.
But with the support of a coach, he persisted. He applied to college. He navigated the complex system. He refused to give up.
Today, he’s an immigration attorney and helps others walking the same difficult road he once did.
“His story really moved me,” Baker says. “It’s an inspiring reminder of the lasting impact our work can have.”
For her, it’s proof that College Possible doesn’t just help students get to college. It helps launch leaders and changemakers who give back to their communities.
Meeting the Moment

“I’ve seen College Possible face lots of changes, each requiring agility and adaptability that not all organizations could handle,” she says.
