College Possible Laptop Giveaway Helps Students Launch into College Life

Laptop Giveaway

This summer, we were proud to host “Ready, Set, College!”, a month-long event designed to support our recently graduated high school seniors as they prepared to begin their college journeys. Held at our Milwaukee office, this drop-in event gave students access to one-on-one advising, a celebratory send-off, and a brand-new laptop, thanks to our partnership with United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County.

Each attending student received a free laptop to take to college, helping close the digital divide that so often stands in the way of college success. These laptops were made possible through funding from the American Rescue Plan Act, administered by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin.

“This event was all about celebrating our graduates and equipping them with the resources they need to thrive in college,” says Marco Morrison, College Possible Wisconsin executive director. “We were thrilled to partner with United Way to ensure our students have access to the technology, guidance and support they deserve.”

Over the course of three days, students from our Class of 2025 stopped in for personalized college enrollment conferences, enrolled in our College Success program, and finalized important next steps before starting school. We offered transportation support to make sure everyone had the chance to attend.

To make the experience even more memorable, students enjoyed free snacks and ice cream and were entered into raffles for college essentials.

“Together with our partners, we were proud to offer this one-stop-shop experience to help our students confidently take the next steps toward college success,” Morrison says.

Events like this reflect our ongoing commitment to expanding access to higher education. By providing critical resources, we continue to ensure our students feel supported, prepared and confident as they begin this exciting new chapter.

This project is being supported, in whole or in part, by federal award number CPFFN0201 awarded to United Way of Wisconsin through $16,459,684.90 of funds from the U.S. Department of the Treasury through the American Rescue Plan Act and the State of Wisconsin, acting by and through the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin.
