Nationwide survey highlights economic mobility, career satisfaction, and the transformative impact of College Possible’s proven coaching model.
College Possible, one of the nation’s leading college access and success nonprofits, today released its 2024 Alumni Survey, highlighting powerful outcomes for students who participated in its coaching programs. College Possible surveyed nearly 1,300 alumni, which showed that they are graduating, thriving in their careers, and experiencing financial security.
“These findings show that with the right support, students from trying family circumstances succeed in college and continue to thrive well beyond graduation,” said Dr. Siva Kumari, CEO of College Possible. “Our alumni aren’t just earning degrees; they are building careers, earning competitive salaries, and pursuing advanced degrees. These long-lasting outcomes are the result of consistent, student-centered support, and they remind us why this work matters.”
In a challenging economic landscape, recent college graduates are facing notable hurdles. As of early 2025, the unemployment rate for college graduates aged 22 to 27 has risen to 5.8%, marking the highest level since 2012, excluding the period of the pandemic. Additionally, underemployment among this group has surged to 41.2%, indicating that many are working in roles that do not require a college degree. These statistics highlight the challenges new graduates face in finding employment that aligns with their educational background.
Some of College Possible’s 2024 Alumni Survey findings include:
- 95% of College Possible alumni are employed, with the majority working full-time;
- 50% earn more than $60,000 annually, well above the national median for early career professionals;
- 38% graduate with no student debt, and an additional 13% graduate with less than $10,000;
- 83% are satisfied with their careers, and 93% say the program helped prepare them for success.
The report also highlights that nine in 10 of College Possible alumni would recommend the program to others, reflecting the program’s lasting impact and the strength of its alumni community. College Possible pairs Pell-eligible high school and college students with college graduates who are specially trained to provide personalized support for a minimum of six years at no cost to students and families. They help students from low-income backgrounds navigate the complexities of the college application, enrollment, and persistence processes.
