Milwaukee welcomes new board members

College Possible Milwaukee welcomes two new board members, Dr. Cheryl Moore and Katina Shaw.

Dr. Cheryl Moore is the Executive Director of the Career Studio at Alverno College where she leads efforts to prepare students for competitive and innovative futures. She assumed the role September 1, 2021. Dr. Moore has more than 15 years of higher education experience coming to Alverno from Cardinal Stritch University. Here she served as an assistant professor and chair of the undergraduate business program. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina, a Master of Business Administration from the Keller Graduate School of Management, and a Ph.D. in Organization and Management with a specialization in Leadership from Capella University.

Dr. Moore has high energy with a passion for enhancing student success with an innovative approach to learning by doing. Her focus in her role at Alverno College is to “future proof” Alverno students with digital readiness and relational engagement. Alverno College has been a Connects partner with College Possible Milwaukee since 2014. We are honored to have Dr. Moore join our advisory board bringing her incredible knowledge and experience within higher education.

Katina Shaw is entering her 16th season with the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club as the Vice President of Community Relations and Family Liaison. Shaw is the key liaison between the front office and the players, the coaches and their families. Before joining the Brewers, Shaw spent eight+ years fundraising as the market manager for the Milwaukee Chapter of the American Diabetes Association. She coordinated the fundraising efforts for the Step Out Walk to Fight Diabetes in Milwaukee, Green Bay and Racine. In June 2019, Shaw received The Business Journal Women of Influence Award and in February 2012, she received the Milwaukee Times Black Excellence Award, recognizing individuals making a positive difference in the community. Shaw is an active volunteer in the community, a member of various committees, and serves on boards in the Milwaukee community such as Girls Scouts of Wisconsin Southeastern, Make-A-Wish Wisconsin, MENTOR Greater Milwaukee and the Wisconsin Humane Society.

The Milwaukee Brewers and the Brewers Community Foundation have been supporters of College Possible Milwaukee since 2013. We are grateful for their financial support of our programs and welcome Katina Shaw’s expertise in community investments.
