In September, UP Ties reached out to College Possible and invited AmeriCorps members serving as high school and college coaches to their annual kickball tournament. After weeks of intense training and preparation for the academic year, College Possible coaches welcomed the opportunity to cut loose and have some fun. On Sept. 30, College Possible coaches arrived at Elmwood Park ready to represent.
UP Ties fielded three teams, giving College Possible AmeriCorps coaches multiple chances to show off their kickball skills. Loud cheers from UP Ties family members and the College Possible leadership team sitting in the stands added excitement. After six innings and some serious competitive effort, College Possible yielded the victory to UP Ties.
It’s great we can get together with College Possible and AmeriCorps service members outdoors and have a competitive spirit. College Possible is a wonderful organization and we love working with them,” shared Natalie Mancuso, UP Ties vice president for external relations.
The tournament was more than just a game. While it provided the opportunity for everyone to relax and have fun, it also allowed College Possible AmeriCorps coaches and leadership team to connect with UP Ties members. We learned a little more about one another and celebrated a year of a shared commitment to supporting College Possible student scholars on their journey to and through college.
A special shoutout to the College Possible AmeriCorps team: Elliott, Kam, Angel, Katie, Michaela, Marisa, Madilyn, Emilio, Aubrey and Molli. You all are the best.
