We are thrilled to share the good news that College Possible has been selected as Union Pacific (UP) Ties Charity Partner for 2023. This is the third consecutive year the honor has been bestowed upon College Possible Omaha, and site leadership is looking forward to the many opportunities this partnership will present over the coming months. Melissa Valek, Omaha’s senior development director, shared,
In December we were invited to the end of year celebration where UP Ties presented a check to College Possible for $29,253. We had come prepared to say thank you for our two-year partnership when it was announced UP Ties had once again selected us as their charity partner. We immediately began making plans to create more opportunities for UP Ties to engage with our students and coaches.”
Over the course of the past two years, UP Ties members have participated in career panels at Omaha’s nine partner high schools, provided professional development opportunities for AmeriCorps coaches by taking part in mock networking events, and hosted various team building events and fundraisers. Plans are already underway for UP Ties’ biggest fundraiser – an annual golf tournament, which will be held at Eagle Hills Golf Course on Saturday, June 10.
The tournament is a lot of fun – UP Ties really puts on a top quality event. The last two years we have set up a tent at Hole 10 and invited golfers to participate in a fun challenge. In addition to raising funds in support of College Possible Omaha, it also gives us an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of college access and success.”
UP Ties-Young Professional Network is an employee resource group at Union Pacific that connects, develops, and empowers young professionals. Membership provides these dedicated professionals the opportunity to learn more about the railroad, various departments within Union Pacific, and to develop extensive networks within the company. Throughout the year, UP Ties members engage in personal and professional development and participate in philanthropic activities.
