It’s that time of year when we say goodbye to the majority of our AmeriCorps members. In truth, we hope it’s not goodbye, but more of a “see you soon!”
This group of 37 AmeriCorps members worked tirelessly to support students to and through college. The shift to virtual learning was not without its challenges, including maintaining scholars’ engagement without being able to connect in person, student burnout and technical barriers related to online learning, and access to technology. We are incredibly proud of this group who remained positive, nimble and was up for the challenge.
Despite the unorthodox approach to the year, AmeriCorps members made great strides in supporting our scholars. Some notable achievements include:
9 virtual campus visits
231 real deal ACT registrations
218 letters of recommendation written
866 schools added to Top Five lists
346 financial aid applications completed
320 scholarship awards
915 college acceptance letters
20,400 hours of service with high school seniors
14,448 activities logged with college scholars
469 college scholars predicted to persist this fall
