Supporter Spotlight: Umpqua Bank

Umpqua Bank has been a generous supporter of College Possible Oregon since 2016, giving well over $20,000 in support of college success programming across eight Oregon high schools. Umpqua Bank shares a commitment to ensuring all young people have access and opportunity to continue their education.

Randy ChoyWe chatted with Randy Choy, vice president of community giving and nonprofit partnerships; managing director, Umpqua Bank Charitable Foundation to learn more. Choy is a first-generation college student, proud alumni of University of Oregon and credits his college experience with shaping who he is now as a professional and establishing a love for life-long learning.

Attaining a college degree—whether a two-year associate degree or four-year bachelor’s degree—is still one of the most important achievements along the road to economic prosperity in this country. College Possible opens doors and demystifies the college process and experience. The need for equitable access to post-secondary education is so important, and Umpqua Bank—through funding from the Umpqua Bank Charitable Foundation—wants to do everything possible to support the trajectory of success for these students.”

College Possible was recently invited to participate in Umpqua Bank’s Nonprofit Partner Spotlight which happens every Wednesday morning. Each week they invite a different nonprofit partner from all different issue areas to present about their organization and ways to get involved. Umpqua associates from around the Portland-metro region join the call and leave inspired to do more for their community. Umpqua started the Nonprofit Partner Spotlights to better connect nonprofit partners with new friends, volunteers and donors in response to COVID-19 restrictions.

Umpqua Bank has evolved their community giving strategy to align with their new corporate responsibility strategy to include a stronger focus on improving the economic vitality of under-resourced individuals, families and small businesses. They have three priority impact areas: economically empowered individuals, vibrant business ecosystems and thriving communities. Read more about what Umpqua Bank is doing in our community.

Thank you, Umpqua Bank for your continued support of College Possible and for your investment in students.
