On September 22, College Possible Omaha’s AmeriCorps coaches and leadership team members were invited to participate in the UP (Union Pacific) Ties annual kickball tournament. As one of Union Pacific’s nine Employee Resource Groups (ERG), the mission of UP Ties is to connect with, develop, and empower young professionals at Union Pacific through collaborative social and community-minded activities.

This year’s kickball tournament included teams from UP Ties, Kiewit Corporation and College Possible, giving the young professionals the opportunity to showcase their kickball skills. After two games, College Possible Omaha proudly won the tournament.

The tournament was more than just a game — it was a chance for everyone to relax and have fun. It also allowed College Possible’s AmeriCorps coaches and leadership team to connect with UP Ties members. We learned a little more about one another and celebrated the second year of a shared commitment to supporting College Possible students on their journey to and through college.

“This is the second year we’ve partnered with College Possible. It’s always a great way to get UP Ties members and other young professionals together to teach them about the work that College Possible does,” says UP Ties member Aurelio Picazo Perea.

The partnership we’ve had with UP Ties for the last two years has been a great time,” says College Possible Executive Director Arvin Frazier III. “The kickball tournament was no different. We appreciate their efforts to raise continuous awareness around our organization’s mission, and the chance to connect our young professionals with others.”

A special thanks to the AmeriCorps members who played on College Possible’s team: Emilio, Dayana, Aubrey and Yuki. And thank you to our coaches who cheered on the team: Stacey, Say and Angel.
