What do you do for College Possible?
I work with the development team as a remote grant writer to raise funds for the students we serve. Though I am a remote employee, I am still in Nebraska, so I feel very connected to both the work and the Omaha community!
What do you love most about your job?
I love the opportunity to serve students. As a grant writer, I have a behind-the-scenes role, however, the funding we secure is vital to supporting programs and ultimately student success. I feel very lucky to be a part of such a dynamic local team and to be a part of the College Possible movement.
What do you want to learn more about this year?
I have so much to learn! Though I come from a non-profit and education background, none of my work has been within the higher education space. I am looking forward to learning more about Omaha area donors and building on College Possible’s amazing success.
Why College Possible?
Most recently, I worked with a small literacy council where we served 98% immigrants and refugees during their journey as New Americans. The daily struggles they face, with language only being a small part of their obstacles, only strengthened my desire to connect people with resources that empower them. The opportunity to serve students through College Possible Omaha, is a natural fit for me, and I am so excited to be here.
