Meet Lindsay, Navigate high school program manager

Lindsay, Navigate high school program manager, joined the College Possible Minnesota team September 2018. With their background in youth development and leadership, Lindsay was a perfect fit for College Possible Minnesota. As someone who would have been eligible for College Possible as a high school student, Lindsay was drawn to an organization that is creating space and resources for students who are underrepresented in higher education.

“I continue to serve with College Possible because we’re in a position to ensure that students understand their options in college and career exploration in an environment that is supportive and inclusive to their experiences,” said Lindsay. “College Possible is unique in that we have both a high school program and a college program. We understand that college admittance and enrollment aren’t the only barriers to success.”

Lindsay is excited to see where current seniors enroll in the fall and for rising senior and junior classes to expand their college exploration. “Being able to connect with students and coaches on their goals is so energizing,” said Lindsay. Being part of a team that is mission-aligned and dedicated to supporting students is crucial to this work. Lindsay shared that they are thankful to be included in a team that strives to better fit the needs of the students they serve.

So much of the work we do at College Possible is focused on serious matters, but we do like to save room for fun as well. When asked about their favorite flavor of ice cream, Lindsay replied, “Honestly it changes by the hour. I love anything sweet or coffee-flavored! Bebe Zito has a flavor called Dulcineia which is a sweet cream base with chocolate wedding cake mixed in and a raspberry swirl. Topped with a raspberry sauce and whipped cream – life-changing!”

They weren’t able to narrow down to just one favorite book, but some of their recent favorites include Girl, Woman, Other, The Stars and the Blackness Between Them, and In The Dream House. While it’s not been released yet, their favorite movie is going to be Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse. They loved Into the Spiderverse and will watch anything Marvel, so they’re really excited for this one. When asked what their chosen super power would be, Lindsay replied, “I’d love to be able to speak any language needed at any given moment.”
