BG joined College Possible on December 19, 2022, as the Senior Director of Program Operations.
I see the purpose of my role as a position where I can help identify ways to make higher education more open, inclusive, and supportive both across the College Possible network and within higher education nationwide,” said Tucker.
When asked why she wants to serve with College Possible Minnesota and what she’s excited to work on, BG responded, “As a previous director of two counseling programs and partnership manager, I have seen how colleges foster communities of inclusion and access on their campuses and the devastating impact on students when they fail to meaningfully work toward dismantling inequities within the education system.”
“These observations of how colleges recruit and support first-generation students have highlighted the power of best practices when an institution implements purposeful interventions in student persistence,” said Tucker. “Higher education institutions can be places that breed systemic marginalization for BIPOC and first-generation students. Conversely, with alignment, purpose, and resources, they also can break cyclical inequity.”
In the coming year, I’m most excited about working for an organization that is committed and focused on college access and success. From a programs standpoint, I am pumped to be working with a team where we all champion a common goal around student outcomes,” she said.
And now for the nitty gritty details about BG: Her favorite ice cream is mint chocolate chip, but only the green kind. When asked what her favorite book or movie was, she couldn’t narrow it down to just one and shared that some of her favorite books are The Last Days of Summer, The Art of Fielding, The Dresden Files, and The KingKiller Chronicles. Her favorite movies include Moneyball and Miracle on Ice and while she doesn’t have dreams of superpowers, she wishes that she was good at skating, “Like good enough to just show up and crush it at a pond hockey game.”
