Meet Amy

School: University of Nebraska Omaha, Class of 2018

As a exercise science major at the University of Nebraska Omaha, Amy demonstrates the motivation and persistence it takes to earn a college degree.

Amy first learned about College Possible’s high school program from a friend while at Papillion-La Vista High School and recalls the challenge of time management.

“It was hard in high school, because we had seven classes a day, plus staying after school for sessions,” she remembers. “I needed that push. If it wasn’t for my coaches I wouldn’t even know how to apply for college or which scholarships to apply for.”

After learning that College Possible would continue with her through obtaining her degree, Amy felt reassured.

“I know who to go for help when I need to and I’m not going to go through it alone.”

Now in her third year at UNO, Amy demonstrates a confident approach to her academics.

“In high school I was a very shy person, College Possible helped me get comfortable with myself and go out on my way. I get together with some other girls and study, and we combine our minds to become one and see what we can come up with.”

Nothing can capture Amy’s experience better than her own words.

“I don’t mind sharing my story with other students. I hope to inspire other students to reach their goals. College is all about facing obstacles. As long as you keep studying, going to school – no matter how hard it is, life will get easier.”
