This is a message from College Possible Omaha Senior Executive Director Arvin Frazier III.
Ten years ago, recognizing that equitable access to educational opportunities can break generational poverty, our community’s philanthropic leaders joined together to bring College Possible to Omaha. With their initial support, our staff began serving just over 70 students at two area high schools. Since those early days we have expanded into nine high schools in six school districts. Our College Possible student scholars can be found on 83 college campuses across the nation and our coaches and staff serve over 1,700 students annually.
While our programming has evolved to meet the changing needs of our student scholars, our mission remains the same: to support students from low-income backgrounds on their journey to and through college. Throughout the years, we have remained steadfast in our efforts to provide the tools, strategies, and support that students need to navigate and overcome systemic barriers to college graduation.
I hope you will join us in celebrating our 10-Year Service Anniversary on Thursday, May 12, at 5:30 p.m. at the Scott Conference Center on the University of Nebraska Omaha’s Scott Campus in Aksarben Village. Student success and the opportunity a college degree provides to lead a choice-filled life is at the core of what we do. We could not have accomplished these past 10 years without the generous support of our community partners and supporters.
Let’s celebrate College Possible student scholars and their commitment to invest in their future. Please RSVP at: Omaha10Year.givesmart.com
