College Possible acknowledges the systemic barriers that can impede a student’s future and has given me the opportunity to support others in overcoming these challenges. The program empowers students to pursue their dreams by providing the tools they need to succeed. Now in the second year of my journey as a college access coach, I am continuously reminded of how deeply College Possible has impacted my life.

As both a former College Possible student and now a coach, I can truly say this program has been instrumental in shaping my educational journey and personal growth. When I first joined College Possible as a high school junior, I felt uncertain about my potential and unsure of my next steps. Through the program, I gained the confidence and knowledge to navigate the complex college admissions process. My coach provided me with manageable steps, transforming what once felt impossible into achievable goals. I quickly realized that the program wasn’t just about getting into college—it was about finding my voice, believing in myself, and understanding that my dreams were within reach.

Now as a coach, I have the privilege of helping students in the same way I was helped. It’s crazy to think that just a few years ago, I was in their shoes, unsure if I was going to make it or if I could afford college. Witnessing students experience the same growth I did has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my life. When a student looks at me with excitement after receiving a college acceptance or discovering scholarship opportunities, it takes me back to when I was in their position. Those moments serve as a powerful reminder that my role is not just about guiding students into college but helping them build confidence and believe in their potential.

Being a coach goes beyond college applications; it’s about listening to students’ stories, understanding their struggles, and reminding them they are capable of achieving whatever they put their minds to. I’ve learned that coaching is less about providing the right answers and more about being there for them when they need it most. It’s a relationship built on trust, empathy, and the shared belief that their futures are bright.

College Possible has shaped who I am. It allowed me to grow into a mentor who provides encouragement to students and tell them, “You’ve got this.” This program is not just about helping students get into college—it’s about helping them believe they deserve to be there and are capable of achieving more. Every day, this belief motivates me to continue making a difference.
