This Saturday, as I learned about the hateful and racist violence carried out in the vibrant and beautiful community of El Paso, my mind immediately went to our students. The road to a post-secondary degree can be winding and confusing, but it should never be terrifying. As we all continue to process and heal from this act of terrorism, I want you to know that College Forward stands unequivocally with our Latinx community.
For our CoFo students attending college in El Paso, know that we are here for you as you continue your higher education journey this fall semester. Our students have always been our inspiration. Your resilience, strength, and persistence in the face of adversity are what brought you this far, and it’s precisely what will help you persevere through this devastating event. Your CoFo family is with you always, but especially in these moments of tragedy.
El Paso Community College and UTEP students, we encourage you to take advantage of the counseling services offered by your campus administration and greater El Paso community. Here are some resources we know of in the community, and we will continue to post other support lines as they become available:
