College students receive training and professional networking experience at Shaking It Up 2020

We want to thank everyone who attended our annual networking event Shaking It Up this semester at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska in Aksarben. It was a wonderful celebration of student success and local partnership.

The event kicked off with a networking training for about 40 college students to best prepare them to converse with local business professionals. This training was in partnership with LinkedIn. Each student also received business cards, a digital profile picture and suggested conversation starters.

More than 100 local professionals from the Omaha community attended the networking event, representing multiple career fields and backgrounds, and networked with college students preparing to enter the workforce.

The event concluded with a program led by Executive Director Arvin Frazier that included a student fireside chat and award presentation. Michael Lyon of KIOS led the student fireside chat with Miriam and Dorothy of University of Nebraska Omaha and Efren of Creighton University. Two longtime supporters of College Possible – our mission, program and students we serve – were recognized for their partnership: University of Nebraska Omaha and Mutual of Omaha Foundation.

We want to thank our valued supporters and Shaking It Up event sponsors for their support of this special event for students. Lead sponsors were University of Nebraska Omaha and Cox Communications.
