High school seniors from across Chicago gathered Oct. 22 at Navy Pier for the opportunity to meet and interview with highly selective colleges and universities from across the country. Hosted by Chicago Scholars, the 2019 On-Site Admissions Forum brought representatives of 190 different institutions to the students, many of whom received same-day acceptances and scholarship offers. Dressed in business casual, the students waited anxiously outside a room that resembled an airplane hangar, in which the representatives had set up their tables.
Through a partnership with Chicago Scholars, College Possible Chicago was able to send 11 of our seniors to the event, all of whom met the requirements for admission into the forum. Upon their 8 a.m. arrival, students chatted excitedly with their coaches in the waiting room, some waiting until evening for their final interview or information session.
By the end of the forum, all of our students received same-day admission to 25 colleges, and were offered $2 million in scholarships. We are extremely proud of our students and cannot wait to hear which of these upstanding institutions they choose to attend.
