We are pleased to welcome Dr. Lisa Hahn, MSW, Ed.D. (she/her) to the team as Senior Manager of College Success. Lisa brings a wealth of experience and commitment to creating and maintaining student-centric learning environments that holistically advance the civic and economic success of all students.
As a Student Success Designer for the Learning Enterprise at Arizona State University (ASU), she developed an integrated learning model that brought first-year college courses to over 100 foster youth that followed them regardless of their home placement. And while serving in Student Development and Curriculum for ASU, she implemented a closed-loop targeted intervention model that resulted in a 21% decrease of students yet-to-thrive withdrawing from their first semester.
Lisa is an experienced conference speaker, including presenting at the Annual Conference on the First-Year Experience in 2023, where she spoke on how to use learning analytics to support the students of marginalized and minoritized communities that would otherwise typically go unseen in higher education retention efforts.
In her role at College Possible, Lisa aims to create a data-frame that captures student movement to help implement targeted interventions that are driven by student outcomes. “I want to ensure we are using the data of how students move toward their goals,” she says, “to hold ourselves and our partners accountable to authentic and meaningful support.” Part of this work includes creating curriculum and training toolkits for typical success interventions such as time management, preparing for transitions and financial forecasting and resourcing.
Additionally, Lisa works with our college partners to be key investors and stakeholders in this model. For example, Oregon State University will map student-driven success pathways that ensure College Possible students are provided wrap-around services and supports once they are accepted. And Reed College will help create an admission process curriculum to demystify highly selective liberal arts colleges and universities for underserved students.
Lisa expressed her excitement to take the next step in her career journey with us: “At College Possible I get to serve students who deserve to be served, and none of us are afraid to say it out loud.”
