We are excited to welcome Elena Hein as Oregon’s new director of development and communications. Hein is passionate about College Possible’s mission and has a demonstrated commitment to social justice and community-centric fundraising practices throughout her career.
Hein started her career in the nonprofit sector nearly two decades ago at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society where she gained experience in volunteer management and fundraising events. Next, she was responsible for communications and database management at Children’s Relief Nursery before being promoted as their grant writer.
For the last nine years, Hein has served as the development director at Portland Playhouse where she helped grow the budget 350% to $1.2 million annually. She also raised an additional $2.55 million for Portland Playhouse’s capital campaign.
Hein earned her bachelor of arts in Spanish with a minor in ethnic studies from the University of Oregon and her master’s in public administration from Portland State University. She is an avid podcast listener, hiker, jewelry designer, fire lookout adventurer and loves learning from different cultures.
