National Recognition
National Service Impact Award
Awarded by the Corporation for National and Community Service
College Possible was honored with the National Service Impact Award for our innovative and impactful approach to college access coaching. This award recognizes the effectiveness of our near-peer mentoring model, which helps students get into college and graduate.
Award for Excellence in College Access
Presented by the National College Attainment Network (NCAN)
In recognition of our efforts to improve college access for students from low-income backgrounds or who are the first in their families to attend college, College Possible received the Award for Excellence in College Access from NCAN. This award underscores our success in supporting these students through the college admissions process and beyond.
White House Recognition for College Success
Presented by the Obama Administration
As part of the First Lady’s Reach Higher Initiative, College Possible was recognized at the White House for our efforts to increase college success rates among first-generation students. This national recognition highlights our role in improving college completion rates and ensuring that young learners have the resources and support they need to finish their degrees. In June 2009, President Barack Obama acknowledged College Possible in a speech on social entrepreneurship, highlighting the organization’s efforts to expand college access for low-income students.
Evergreen National Education Prize
Presented by the Evergreen Prize Judge Committee
College Possible was honored as the first recipient of the Evergreen National Education Prize for its innovative work supporting low-income students. The prize recognized College Possible’s Catalyze program, which provides coaching and academic support on college campuses to improve persistence and graduation rates. This recognition highlights our continued commitment to ensuring all students have the opportunity to succeed in higher education.

Top 10 Nonprofit Innovation Award
Presented by the Center for Nonprofit Excellence Milwaukee
College Possible Wisconsin (formerly College Possible Milwaukee) was recognized as one of the Top 10 Innovative Nonprofits by the Center for Nonprofit Excellence. This award highlighted the organization’s pioneering approach to improving college access and success for students in the Milwaukee community.
Founders’ Leadership Recognition
Awarded by the National Education Association
College Possible’s founder, Jim McCorkell, was honored with the Outstanding Educator Award by the National Education Association for his leadership in reshaping college access and college success for students.
