Mayra Alaniz is an alumna of the College Possible program, graduating from South Division High School in 2013. She was awarded the Bill & Melinda Gates Millennium Scholarship and she was named Hispanic Youth of the Year by the United Migrant Opportunity Services (UMOS).
She attended Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. where she majored in Government and minored in Sociology. Mayra maintained close ties to Milwaukee during her college summers, interning in various capacities at the City of Milwaukee and volunteering with education-related nonprofits.
Upon college graduation, Mayra returned to Milwaukee to work for the City of Milwaukee. Now, she is pursuing her master’s degree in business administration at Marquette University through the Trinity Fellows program.
Mayra lives with her family on the south side of Milwaukee. She enjoys sharing her college application experience and knowledge about college resources with youth.
