College Possible Minnesota, the Minnesota chapter of the pioneering national college access and success nonprofit, has promoted Senior Director of Programs BG Tucker as its new executive director. A celebrated leader in education, BG is a true champion of educational equity. She prioritizes accessible higher education that is at its core, holistic and inclusive.

We are excited to begin the new year with BG’s leadership and her vision for advancing our mission. “BG’s deep passion for education and her demonstrated ability to lead with purpose and impact make her the ideal person to guide College Possible Minnesota,” said Dr. Siva Kumari, CEO of College Possible. “Her leadership will help us continue our mission of breaking down barriers and ensuring every student has the support they need to succeed in college and beyond.”

Recipient of the 2024 MACAC Student Service Award, BG Tucker is a fierce advocate and leader for college access, with a robust knowledge base around local, national, and international education access. Her belief in educational equity and family-informed decision-making stems from more than a decade of direct service work with first-generation students. BG is not only championing students through her work; she is creating a larger movement in training and developing the next generation of educators and educational partners who have equal weight in supporting this work.

At College Possible, BG uses her prior knowledge and vast network of experts to build strong systems of support. That support begins with students and the belief that their voice is the foundation of everything. By elevating student feedback through communication technology and ensuring the role of guardians in the college process is acknowledged with respect, student and family engagement is priority number one. From there, it’s about forming connections between students and coaches as well as partners, providing a well-rounded system of support, an especially important component for first-generation students.

In 2023, BG was integral in forging a partnership between College Possible and Direct Admission, providing opportunities to an additional 300 students in Minnesota. And last year, with the botched FAFSA roll-out, BG stepped up as an immediate change agent, assessing concerns and proactively addressing the ongoing ripple effects.

She seeks opportunities to empower her peers across the country creating continuity in services and flexibility in support. BG elevates alternative ways to think collaboratively about student support in the wake of the overturned Affirmative Action ruling. Her desire to break down barriers in communication allows increased resource sharing, keeping students first. And as she learns from peers, partners, educators and thought leaders, she teaches. BG is truly engaging in student-centric systems change and bringing us all along with her to a space where there is no wrong door to higher education.

BG holds a Master of Arts in Higher Education Organizational Leadership, Policy and Development from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of Arts from Carleton College. Her leadership, strategic vision, and community engagement make her exceptionally qualified to lead College Possible Minnesota into its next chapter.
