College Possible Wisconsin is proud to enter its second year as a United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County Agency Partner. The partnership, established in 2023, aims to improve college access and success for students from low-income backgrounds.
“College Possible graduates are employed, actively engaged in civic and philanthropic efforts, and graduate with minimal debt,” says Marco Morrison, executive director of College Possible Wisconsin. “This partnership validates our mission and commitment to breaking the cycle of generational poverty.”
As a United Way Agency Partner, College Possible funding from the United Way’s Racial Equity Fund. This fund focuses on supporting organizations led by Black and Brown individuals, aiming to enhance their capacity to address specific community needs. Our multi-year funding structure enables the development of programs that promote educational and racial equity.
The resources provided by the United Way have enabled College Possible to expand career development opportunities for scholars, and cover essential operational expenses. Through this partnership, College Possible Wisconsin is able to provide long-term support to students. College Possible program participants receive up to eight years of coaching to help navigate the obstacles to college admission and success.
“Recognizing that systemic racism has significantly impacted many students in Wisconsin, we are dedicated to promoting educational equity,” says Morrison. “When students from underrepresented communities achieve college degrees, they not only enrich the workforce but also help advance social justice and equity within leadership roles across the country.”
