Rising college sophomore Ni is part of a trio of siblings who have received support from College Possible. Led by her older brother and sister, Ni has embarked on the path to college, choosing to major in computer science at the University of Nebraska Omaha, influenced by her familial ties to the institution. Her brother graduated just last year, while her sister currently pursues her studies at UNO.

Ni’s journey to college began during her high school years, where she attended Omaha North High School, immersing herself in engineering and STEM courses. Despite not viewing herself as academically strong, Ni’s resolve to overcome challenges is evident. It was during her junior year, upon transferring to Northwest High School, that Ni’s path intersected with College Possible.

Reflecting on her experience, Ni acknowledges the significant impact College Possible has had on shaping her trajectory. “Joining College Possible helped guide me toward college,” she shares. Ni’s transition to college wasn’t just about her personal aspirations; it was also influenced by her family. “Given that both my older siblings were attending college, it almost felt inevitable that I would do the same,” Ni reflects. Despite her siblings already being in college, Ni still required assistance for ACT preparation and throughout the application process.

Guided by her brother’s passion for computer science, Ni found herself drawn to the field, recognizing its expansive career opportunities. Despite initial doubts about her academic abilities, Ni’s determination to explore the possibilities within her chosen major remains steadfast.

“As I navigate my college journey, I intend to seize every opportunity for growth,” Ni shares. Her plans include immersing herself in internships and hands-on experiences to bolster her skills and enhance her employability post-graduation.

Fatuma, Ni’s College Possible coach during her freshman year, describes Ni as “a beacon of independence and brilliance in her academic pursuits.” Ni’s dedication and passion, according to Fatuma, demonstrate the boundless potential of College Possible students.

For Ni, earning her degree in computer science holds profound significance. It represents not only academic achievement, but also a testament to her resilience in overcoming obstacles. As she progresses through her college journey, Ni embodies the spirit of determination and ambition, poised to carve out a bright future for herself in the ever-evolving world of technology.
