A self-described Harry Potter fan, Pahoua Vang first joined College Possible as a student in 2010 and later joined College Possible Minnesota staff in 2020 as the AmeriCorps recruitment manager.
Pahoua grew up in North Minneapolis and as a first-generation college student herself, she experienced the positive impact of College Possible’s work and the importance of the organization’s mission. With the continuous support of her amazing AmeriCorps college success coaches, she graduated with her bachelor’s degree in communication studies from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. She was the first in her family to earn a bachelor’s degree and learn the positive, generational impact obtaining a degree can make.
“I joined College Possible because I know the impact our work has on students and their families,” said Pahoua. “I was a College Possible student myself! I joined the program my junior year of high school and received support until I graduated college. College Possible never forgot about me, and it was a great feeling knowing I had my coaches to cheer me on. I wanted to be a part of something that had a positive impact on my life and College Possible was it.”
Every year, Pahoua looks forward to greeting our new AmeriCorps coaches. While her job requires a lot of behind-the-scenes work, coordinating and planning coach programming, her favorite part is welcoming the new coach cohort each August.
We are thrilled to have Pahoua on our leadership team. Are you or someone you know looking to be part of an amazing team? Check out our open positions!
