Congratulations to the Class of 2021 Catalyze Graduates!

In May, universities were busy holding commencement ceremonies to honor the students graduating from college and going on to find careers or attend grad school. For students who are the first in their family to attend college or come from low-income backgrounds, graduation is an emotional day and the culmination of hard work throughout their educational journey.

College Possible is proud to have students graduating from universities across the country including California State University Stanislaus, Vaughn College of Aeronautic Engineering, Aviation and Technology, Coe College, Luther College, and St. Cloud State University.

In a Q&A with Alondra Jimenez, a Catalyze student and Class of 2021 graduate from California State University Stanislaus, we check in to see what her journey was like having a success coach. College Possible is proud of all of our students who work hard to break the barriers of obtaining a college degree and we are proud to see them go on to do amazing things.

Portrait of Alondra JimenezQ: What is your major/area of study? I majored in criminal justice with a concentration in law enforcement.

Q: What are your plans after graduation?
I plan to find a career in my field of study and work my way up to being a detective.

Q: How did having a near-peer success coach help you throughout college?
Having a near-peer success coach to assist you not just in the classroom, but outside the typical school environment is amazing. I got more done than I would ever if I tried to do it on my own.

Q: What advice would you give to a campus bringing on near-peer success coaches?
It’s a must! We need to have individuals who are knowledgeable about the campus they serve at and know what it’s like to be a college student themselves. Near-peer coaches main purpose is to serve students and their goal is to have more students succeed in college. I wouldn’t be where I am without my success coach Marceny, and we need more people like her to support students where they are at.
